Holy Crap!!

I never knew this about Antonio Alfonseca, but apparently he has six fingers and six toes on both hands and both feet.

Here is a picture of his hand that I saw for the first time today.



Something like this I would need a heads up on or I would either A) totally freak out when I felt that little finger wiggle while I shook his hand. Or B) I would make an ass out of myself and embarass him by making a big deal about the extra finger and inspecting close up.

Tell me that's not the freakiest thing you've ever seen.

When I was in elementary school, there was a kid in my grade who had six toes on each feet. His name was - funnily enough - Larry. He was actually pretty cute. I had quite a little crush on him.

I don't know how I'd feel about six fingers though. I mean, you can put a shoe on your foot, but the hand is always right out there.

Does he have specially made batting gloves? What about Winters? Does he have to wear mittens, or does he cram the last two fingers into one finger sleeve?

If I emailed him and asked him, do you think he'd be pissed?

And you call yourself a Cubs fan? C'mon, where you been!?

I never heard anything like that about him. Never.

And you know my Dad and Fritz watch the games a lot more than I do and never did either of them ever mention that Alfonseca had an extra little finger on both hands. And I never heard anyone on SportsCenter or anything like that ever elude to him having an advantage or anything because he's got the extra finger or anything.

I was completely blindsided by this, I'm still amazed.

Wow. I don't know how many times its been referred on SportsCenter, Chicago Sports Talk Radio, and a joke here or there from a guy like Mariotti. I'm just as shocked that you haven't known this.

I have two toes on my feet stuck together on each foot (the ones next to the big toe), by some skin and stuff so that's kind of weird, but this is too.

I thought it was an illusion, at first.

Yep, we all come in different shapes, sizes, and other differences. I have to admit, the way Larry reacted to it reminded me of how Peter Griffin might react.

Whereas I just think up a half million questions that I couldn't dream of asking him without looking like the most insensitive ass ever.

So I'll just ask them here.

When he gets married, which finger does the ring go on? The third finger or the fourth?

I'm scared to think what Larry my say if he saw my third nipple.

I saw Alfonseca give up a game-winning home run to Edgar Renteria at Busch a couple years ago. That was great.
