Looks like another dismal December and January for the Little Eleven. The three highest profile games for the Big Ten all shape up to be blowout losses. Humiliation is on the horizon for the weakest BCS conference (this year) in the land.
Ohio State vs. LSU? This would be funny if it weren't so sad. Ohio State had the cupcake of all cupcake schedules this year. Tressel is again rewarded for scheduling nobody of consequence for non-conference games. They played only two teams in the current BCS Top 25. They beat Wisconsin and lost to Illinois. This is a mediocre Top 25 team that hasn't proven they are top 10 calibre, let alone top 2. What exactly makes anyone believe they can handle LSU's speed on both sides of the ball?
Illinois had a great season and beat two top 25 teams (Ohio State and Wisconsin). They lose to Missouri in the first game of the year, lost to Michigan and lost one road game they shouldn't have. No great shame in that. It was a nice season. But now they have to play the best team in the land? Ouch. Remember how many ugly Rose Bowls we've seen in our lifetimes in which the Pac Ten school wins by 30 over the Little Eleven school? Here comes another one.
Michigan vs. Florida? You can't be serious. Teams with run/pass threats like Oregon and Appy State spread out the Michigan D and left them gasping. There is no greater run/pass threat in college football than Tim Tebow.
The only Big Ten team I give a chance in January games is Wisconsin. They get a Tennessee team that has shown a propensity to give up yards in the running game. And while Tenn will have a speed advantage, it won't be as large as in the other three games above.
